PFC Frederick O. Peterson
January 13, 1895 - February 28, 1963
448 SVC Park Unit
WWI
Frederick was born to parents Johan and Minnie (Tiller) Peterson on January 13, 1895 in Hastings, Nebraska. In total, there Johan and Minnie had 8 children. For some reason, there are two additional children listed as half-siblings to Frederick but his father was still alive at their time of birth, so it is possible that the total number of children was 10. He seemed to have an enjoyment and pride of farming and kept the profession through his life.
Fred married Ruth M. Gaughram on October 16, 1916 in Huron, SD. He was a father when he completed his draft paperwork and when his number came up on July 21, 1918, he became part of the 448 SVC Park Unit MIC. He served in WWI until October 12, 1919.
On returning home, he and Ruth and family moved around living Beadle, Hand, Brookings and Minnehaha counties. He and Ruth had at least 10 children together. Per his obituary, Fred died on February 28, 1963 and was buried in White, SD at Fairview Cemetery.
